World Oceans Day is an annual observance that is celebrated on June 8 by the United Nations and other international organisations. It is a day to celebrate the ocean and raise awareness about the importance of ocean conservation.
Every year World Oceans Day is celebrated to raise awareness of the need to protect the oceans and stop the depletion of their resources. The oceans, commonly known as the ‘lungs of the earth’, are a major source of protein and food for people all around the world.
This year’s World Oceans Day theme is Planet Ocean: Tides are Changing, We will discover how Earth is more than it may seem, and generate a new wave of excitement towards cherishing and protecting the ocean and the entirety of our blue planet.
We observed the World Ocean Day by conducting an art competition for all our students. From Pre Montessori up to Class V they were asked to express anything based on Nature whereas Students from VI to X drawn on Sustainable Development Goal no 14 Life Below water Here is the day captured in the lens.
